Toledo is a city with a strong sense of Pride. We believe that everyone deserves the right to experience our culturally rich art, sports, and nightlife scenes. No matter how they identify themselves. In our diverse climate, we strive to make people feel free and safe to express themselves as they see fit at any of our bars, clubs, restaurants, and other attractions.
The Human Rights Campaign gives Toledo a score of 89 out of 100 on their Municipal Equality Index. Of course, our goal is ultimately to have a perfect score, and to get there we are dedicated to using our most visible outlets to drive education and progress. To that end, Toledo’s world famous Mud Hens hosted a Pride Night in August that featured live entertainment, great food, and an inviting atmosphere across the entire Hensville block and across all of downtown.
Toledo is proud to host Toledo Pride, Northwest Ohio’s largest and most recognized event for the LGBTQ+ community. The Toledo Pride event, a two-day celebration held each August in downtown Toledo, features the best in local and national entertainment, a Pride Parade and many Pride-related events and activities.
In 2015, same-sex marriage became legal in Ohio. We welcome anyone wishing to tie the knot in Toledo to look into our wonderful venues. Among the many options are the Metroparks of the Toledo Area, which make for a beautiful natural backdrop, or properties like the Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel with its distinctive, contemporary aesthetic and size that can accommodate even the largest parties.
