The Boys of Summer are back! Toledo Mud Hens kick off their season April 4 and have an entire season of fun in store for you.

Toledo kicks off baseball season in a BIG way as the Toledo Mud Hens, Triple-A affiliate to the Detroit Tigers, throw a huge celebration to welcome the new season. And that’s just a warm up! Check out all the awesome ways to celebrate the 2019 baseball season in Hensville.

Opening Day(s)

It's Opening Day! Shout it from Fleetwood's Rooftop, and mark it on your calendar: Thursday, April 4! But wait, this day is sooooo fun we're celebrating it again on Saturday, June 8 at the new ‘Summer Opening Day’! Kickoff the season on April 4 with rooftop parties, Opening Day Brewfest in the Home Run Terrace, and the rockin' Hensville Block Party. Then do it all over again on Saturday, June 8. The 'Summer Opening Day' doubleheader on June 8 will feature inflatables, fireworks, live music, and a special guest appearance by the high-energy driven balancing act, the Amazing Tyler. Ticket packages with both 'Opening Days' are available now (that's three games for the price of two!). See you “Opening Day(s)”!

Dine Around Hensville

What goes better with baseball than food? Let’s face it, they’re practically synonymous! And there is no shortage of tasty concessions throughout Fifth Third Field. Before the start of each season, local media help select new decadent culinary concoctions to feed hungry fans all summer long. Some of the new food options include creamy house-made brisket mac and cheese, crispy tater tots loaded with cheese, sour cream and, yes, BACON! For dessert, try the S'mores funnel cake drizzled with chocolate then topped with graham crackers and marshmallows. Check out the entire lip-smackin’ list here

Hensville is always bustling after the game and there’s plenty of food and drink within steps of the ballpark. Holy Toledo! Tavern captures the flavor of the city with its Toledo-themed memorabilia, but it’s the food that will keep you coming back. Indulge your taste buds with the loaded tater tots with braised beef or one of their home-style entrees like the braised pot roast or the hand-breaded crispy walleye and fries. For lighter fare, you can’t miss with the T-Town Cobb salad and homemade soups. For a quick bite and a crazy-big selection of beer, head over to Fleetwood’s Tap Room where you’ll find 48 craft beers including local flavors brewed right here in the 419.

Explore DORA

Hensville turns into party central on game days, thanks in part to the DORA (Downtown Outdoor Refreshment Area). DORA allows guests to take open alcoholic beverages from participating bars, restaurants and entertainment venues out into the streets. These establishments will give you a special disposable 16-ounce to-go cup to take outside to enjoy of the energy of the game day crowd. Open containers are served in the DORA between noon and 1 a.m. daily. Pro tip: Once you leave an establishment, you cannot take your drink into another participating bar or restaurant, so celebrate the warmer weather while sipping a refreshing beverage outdoors.

Fireworks Galore!

You don’t have to wait until the Fourth of July to enjoy a wicked fireworks show! Look to the skies for a postgame fireworks display on Friday and Saturday games between Memorial Day through Labor Day. Speaking of Fourth of July, salute the U.S.A. at the July 3 Rock 'N' Blast Mud Hens game and fireworks show. If you have never seen a postgame firework show, THIS IS THE ONE. The Rock ‘N’ Blast postgame fireworks extend around the ballpark to create a visual performance unlike any other! The 20-minute show, synced to music, features fireworks shooting from the Fifth Third Field warning track and Monroe Street. You have to see it to believe it!

Hensville Live! Postgame Concert Series
