Toledo Area Attractions Reopening

Here's details you need to know before heading to these area attractions that'll be opening their doors soon!


Cedar Point |

 Thursday, July 9, 2020 (Cedar Point Season, Gold and Platinum Passholders only)

- July 9 – 10: park open to 2020 Cedar Point Season, Gold and Platinum Passholders only
- Beginning July 11: park open to Cedar Point Resorts guests and 2020 Cedar Point Season, Gold and Platinum Passholders
- Already announced: Cedar Point’s Hotel Breakers and Lighthouse Point RV sites will be open June 12 – 27, prior to Cedar Point’s opening

- Reservations for a Visit – in order to maintain limited capacity each operating day, all guests, including Season Passholders, will be required to make a reservation to visit the park though the Cedar Point mobile app or at In a few weeks prior to park opening, 2020 Cedar Point Season, Gold or Platinum Passholders will receive an invitation to make reservations first, followed by guests who have pre-purchased day tickets. Reservation availability for guests who have not yet purchased a park ticket will be announced at a later date.

Guests who stay at a Cedar Point Resorts property will have guaranteed entry to Cedar Point for each day of their stay, beginning the day after check in, but must purchase a ticket or have a 2020 Season Pass.

- Health Screening – all guests must complete a health screening declaration within the Cedar Point mobile app 24 hours prior to entering the park. 
- Temperature Screening – guests and associates will undergo a touchless temperature screening prior to entering the park.
- Face Coverings – guests and associates will be required to wear a mask at all times.
- Social Distancing – markers and signage will be placed throughout the park to assist with social distancing of at least six feet.

- Staff will be cleaning thoroughly throughout the day
- Face masks or coverings recommended after 11:30am while inside Visitor Center, Museum, and historic structures.
- For the safety of visitors, capacity will be reduced inside the Visitor Center and Museum as well as inside the historic structures within the fort.
- Social distancing of at least 6 feet is required and will be enforced. Some locations within the site will be closed, including Lambie's Playroom and drinking fountains.
- Restrooms inside the fort will be closed for the duration of the season. The restrooms located within the museum are for visitors only.

- Hours of Regular Operation: Wednesday-Saturday 9:30am-5pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm
- Hours for At-Risk Populations: Wednesday-Saturday 9:30am-11:30am.
During the times for our At-Risk visitors, all visitors will be required to wear masks for the health and safety of at-risk populations.

Heritage Sylvania |

Phase 1 Reopening Plan

- All staff will be wearing masks
- Guests will be strongly encouraged to wear them as well (and Heritage Sylvania has some available if you need one).
- If you are feeling ill, have been exposed to COVID 19 or other flu, have a fever or a cough or have been around someone who has that you postpone your visit until you are feeling better.
- Capacity will be limited to three groups at a time (so everyone in your family/group can come at once; but only three guest groups will be able to be in the museum at any one time)
- Heritage Sylvania has adjusted the traffic flow and will have designated entry and exit doors that will be marked with signs.
- Guests are asked maintain social distancing while in the museum.
- Heritage Sylvania has increased cleaning and sanitation procedures and will be doing hourly cleaning of banisters, handrails, door knobs and other touchable surfaces.
- Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the museum.
- All hands-on exhibit items will be temporarily removed.
- There will be no public bathroom facilities available in the museum.
Heritage Sylvania will continue to monitor and refine our procedures as they begin the reopening process.

- Due to the recent uptick in COVID 19 cases in Lucas County, Heritage Sylvania has adjusted their hours for August at the Heritage Center Museum.
- The Museum will be closed Saturday August 1.

- Saturday, August 8, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Saturday, August 15, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

- The Lathrop House and Historical Village remain closed at this time.
There is no admission charged to visit the Lathrop House, the Historical Village or the Heritage Center Museum during regular open hours. Free will donations are accepted at the door.

Social Distancing
- We will limit capacity on our gaming floor to no more than 50% of maximum occupancy.
- The installation of floor decals and signage to strictly enforce social distancing guidelines in areas where lines typically form.
- Table game seating will be limited, and slot machines will be configured to meet social distancing requirements.
- Live music, entertainment, convention, and banquet services will remain suspended.
- There will be no large drawings, tournaments, or special events.
- Restaurant offerings will include limited menus and hours of operations from Take 2 Grill and Scene.
- Valet will be closed.

Health & Safety
- Team members and vendors will be required to wear masks and will undergo a health screening each day, including temperature checks, prior to their shift.
- Guests will be encouraged to wear masks and must respond to a health screening prior to entry.
- Slot machines and table games will be thoroughly and regularly cleaned throughout the day.
- Sanitizer stations will be installed on the casino floor and be readily available throughout the facility.

Hollywood Casino Toledo will be closed from 4:00am to 7:00am Monday through Friday and 5:00am to 7:00am on Saturday and Sunday for a deep cleaning of the casino floor.


National Museum of the Great Lakes |

- NMGL is  offering pre-purchased timed entry tickets. (If you walk in, you can purchase a ticket for the next available time slot.) 
- While in the museum, visitors are strongly encouraged to wear masks or cloth face coverings that completely cover the nose and mouth.
- Please maintain social distancing throughout your visit. You will need to take some extra caution when touring either of the museum boats.
- Regular cleaning of all spaces will be performed throughout the day to keep you safe.
- Several hands-on exhibits are closed at this time and will only reopen when we have made them safe for everyone.
- NMGL does have multiple touch screen interactives and can provide you with a borrowed stylus to use these exhibits in a safe, no-touch, way.

For ease of ordering and as a way to speed up the check-in process at the museum, NMGL is extending their senior/discount admission. For museum only admission, Adults 18+ are $10 and Youth (ages 6-17) are $8. For museum and ship combination admission, Adults 18+ are $16 and Youth (ages 6-17) are $14. Children 5 and under are free.

Sauder Village |

- Throughout the village, sanitizer and hand washing stations have been added and many restrooms have been renovated.
- Restrooms and high traffic areas will be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day and social distancing practices will be in place to allow for a safe, family-friendly experience.
- Sauder Village staff will be wearing face coverings and guests are encouraged to consider wearing face coverings as well.
- Most of the buildings in the Historic Village will be open with one-way traffic patterns and only one or two family units at a time in the historic buildings.
- The Museum, Tiffin River Woodworks, Buggy Ride, and Little Pioneers Homestead will not be open at the beginning of the season.
- Following current state guidelines, hands-on activities will not be available. However, guests can still watch demonstrations and hear engaging stories about history, crafts, farming, and more!
- The Sauder Village Campground, Sauder Heritage Inn, Barn Restaurant, Doughbox Bakery, and Retail Shops are also open for guests to visit.

New this year, guests can visit the 1920s Main Street at Sauder Village. This one-of-a-kind project replicates a portion of a 1920s Main Street typical to Northwest Ohio. Guests visiting early this summer will be among the first to explore buildings on the east side of Main Street including the Farmers and Merchants Bank, Schuck Jewelry Store, Stotzer Hardware, Ohio Farm Bureau Office, and the Livery. By late summer additional buildings along the west side of Main Street will open. The “Roaring Twenties” will come to life through personal stories, authentic reproduction buildings, and historic artifacts.

- Historic Sauder Village will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 
- Admission is $20.00 for adults, $14.00 for students (6-16), and free for members and children 5 and under.

Limited hours and changed entry procedures
The West Wing of the Museum and the Museum Store will be open Tuesday - Sunday from Noon to 4 p.m. (special hours from 10 a.m. to noon reserved for at-risk populations)
- Admission to the Museum is free as always, but visitors will be required to reserve a museum pass in advance through or by calling 419-255-8000 ext. 7448. Museum passes will be timed in half-hour increments with the last pass issued for 3 p.m. Visitors can reserve museum passes beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, June 15.
- The Museum Café will be open with a Grab & Go menu. The East Wing, Community Gallery, Family Center, Works on Paper/History Hallway, Art Reference Library and the Glass Pavilion remain temporarily closed.
- Group tours will not be conducted, and all indoor performance or educational events have been canceled or postponed to the fall. Outdoor programs and events are currently in the planning phases.

Face covering and distancing procedures
- Visitors are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings while in the Museum. All TMA staff and contractors will wear masks at all times.
- Physical distancing of at least 6 feet between parties will be monitored within the Museum. A one-way path that takes visitors through many of the West Wing galleries has been created. Highlights of this route include the Cloister, New Media Gallery, Great Gallery and Levis Gallery. Visitors are also encouraged to spend time outdoors in the Welles Sculpture Garden.

Cashless and touch-free transactions
- Plexiglass will be in place at the front desk, the Museum Store and the Museum Café.
- Cash will not be accepted; guests can pay for purchases using a debit card or credit card.
- Parking at TMA will be free to the public through July 7. Paid parking for nonmembers will resume Wednesday, July 8.

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium |

 Friday, June 12, 2020 (members only), Wednesday, July 1 (general public & members)
Toledo Zoo Reopening Phase 2 -
- Open to Toledo Zoo Members & General Public starting July 1
- Zoo will manage the traffic flow and limit the number of guests in the park to 50% capacity
- Increased number of exhibits and amenities that will be available to Zoo guests listed on the re-opening guide and digital map
- For the safety of our staff, guests and animals, all Zoo visitors are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings throughout grounds as recommended by the Lucas County Health Department and the CDC. Protective face coverings are required for all guests over the age of 2 to enter restrooms and other indoor venues except for those with specific health or safety considerations.
- Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations throughout Zoo grounds
- To guarantee the safety of all food and beverages consumed at the Zoo; No outside food and beverage except required medical items and baby formula will be permitted. Picnic tables are located outside the Zoo and families can enjoy bringing their lunch to eat outside during their visit. All Zoo members receive 10% discount on food and beverage. Free cups of water are available at all open concession stands.

Reservations are not required. The Toledo Zoo will manage the traffic flow and limit the number of guests in the park. The Zoo will restrict in-park attendance to 50% of standard outdoor capacity and, based on current state guidelines, restrict capacity at our indoor buildings. The Toledo Zoo will also strongly encourage online ticket sales and minimal contact transactions for all purchases.

Open: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Mondays (starting July 13) 10 a.m. – noon, park closes at 2 p.m.
Closed: Monday and Tuesday for thorough deep cleaning. 
Gate hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and park closes at 5 p.m.
